The first Rickenbacker 325 that John Lennon owned was a 1958 Capri model, with a natural finish and a serial number V81. These instruments gained prominence due to John Lennon's use of a 325 during the early years of The Beatles. John Lennon during the Beatles first Ed Sullivan Show appearance, February 9th, 1964.
1958 RICKENBACKER 325 CAPRI SERIES
This series is currently available only in "C" reissue form. The body is unbound, semi-hollow, with 2 o'clock angled sound hole (although re-issues lack a sound hole due to the Lennon connection), and boasts the "crescent moon"-style cutaways. That’s a whole different topic in itself. Once these familiar smaller plates were released, slightly later in 1958, they were used in all cases except for stereo guitars. This apparently came about because the smaller type were not available. short scale, dot fretboard inlays, and a small ( Script error: No such module "convert".) body. According to Rickenbacker enthusiast Larry Wassgren, the very first 1958 325 Capri’s also had these longer jackplates.

Production models were Script error: No such module "convert". It was designed by Roger Rossmeisl, a guitar craftsman from a family of German instrument makers.
